I attended a seminar on Psychology of Test Taking Success and Test Taking Strategies today by Dr. Carl E. Balita, RN, RM, MAN, DrHum, held at the Multi-Purpose Room in San Francisco de Javier bldg. of our school (HAU) from 1-6pm, along with some of my classmates, some faculties, and other 4th year nursing students from different sections. The seminar was conducted by one of the groups of N-405 (if I'm not mistaken?).
I've learned a lot from this seminar. Short but meaningful phrases such as: - "I was born to succeed." - Pray. - Relax. - Focus. - Don't over-analyze. - Simply answer the "fucking" question. - Prioritize through means of the Nursing Process or Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs (but it still depends on the situation) - If it's time to review, review; If it's time for fun, then have fun. - Read and read and read. ..and many more to mention. Those are some of the few phrases that made me realize that after almost 4 years of being a nursing student, I feel more motivated to review and pass the upcoming PNLE. Not only for my future but to look beyond and see what this can do to my life, and "to make my parents proud" as well.=)
Here's a photo of us with Dr. Carl E. Balita after the seminar while he was autograph signing his books entitled "Ultimate Learning Guide" for people who bought or has his book. (The photo was taken with Magdalene's Nokia N73.)
We had our Part 1 of Psych review at school today. Tomorrow's the 2nd part. Anyway, the headline says it all. So, Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. I hope you all enjoyed this day with your loved ones.=) To sum up my day aside from our review, even if I didn't have a date, I did enjoy with some of my classmates/friends. We just had lunch at Chowking, like a group date. Well, hopefully next time I'll be lucky to have a date haha j/k but it'll be a year. Who knows right hehe ;) be blessed and loved this day. Don't forget to thank the Lord for being one of those who love us for who we simply are.=) God bless.
After how many months of people requesting me to join Plurk, I finally gave in lolz. I'm still getting a hang of it though. So, check out my Plurk profile, add me up or be my fan.=) ---
WHOA! It's been quite some time that I haven't been able to update my blog or anything else due to having a hectic schedule at school since I'm going to be graduating from college soon, and hopefully would be taking the upcoming June 2009 PNLE and no problems would occur by the time we graduate and apply at the PRC until the end of the PNLE. Aside from all that, our review of Fundamentals of Nursing (FPN), which comprises mostly of the basics of nursing, is done, and just in 2 days. Since we still have school on weekdays, we have our reviews every Sat. and Sun., yes, a Sunday. Where basically, no one usually have school or classes at that day. So, may God bless us though we are at school reviewing on Sundays. You know, even if we don't go to church on Sundays but have read the word of God and prayed, that would be enough to remember and praise the Lord and be blessed. Though it would be better to praise the Lord and be surrounded by believers as well. But whatever the situation is, everyday is like attending church, even if it takes reading one Bible verse a day. The church of God dwells in the hearts of those who have faith in Him.=) Oh, and this time, i'll try to make sure to update my blog from the past months I have missed. I have lots to tell but so limited through words. Anyway, that's when I get the time to.=) God bless everyone.
Once again, I joined the variety show competition of our CON days this year. Usually, I'd participate yearly in the dance & volleyball activities. Unfortunately, I didn't get to play volleyball due to some misunderstandings. Since a lot of people wanted to join, that person didn't even think of conducting try-outs to select the players best to compete in the game. Forget it. It's better to not join knowing that your teammates are not selected right or join the team that's nonsense. It's a good thing I chose not to join anymore. Pity, they lost. But what the heck, my sister's team won champion for the first time (women's division). Congrats.=)
At least I joined the variety show. And dancing is one thing I like to do. It's like what I say, "College wouldn't be that fun if I don't participate in dancing or volleyball." Well, that's aside from studying. That's a good way to relax and mingle with your fellow batchmates. Anyway, reminiscing to our practice days, we practiced for 2 weeks prior to the competition day. We even had to practice on our 3 days of CON days and had an overnight the day before the competition. We even had practice a few hours before the variety show would start. But, aside from the checking of attendance, it has been fun, not like the fun I had last year, but just "okay" fun. I uploaded photos in my multiply account. Just click here to view the photos.
So, here's a recap of the 3 days:
9/15
AM-Noon: There was the motorcade, parade of colors, opening of SportsFest & CONquest 2008, and the awaited Cheerdance Competition, wherein the 4th year Red Dragons won 1st place, followed by the 2nd year Green Crocs.
HAU CON Days 2008 Cheerdance Competition - Red Dragons
HAU CON Days 2008 Cheerdance Competition - Green Crocs
PM: They had the part I of Mr.&Ms.Nursing '08 by being ramp models, along with previous Mr.&Ms.Nursing winners, and some CIs. This was followed by the acoustic battle of the bands. Congrats to one of my NCM104 Lecturers (Dr.Andrey Logan) for winning.
9/16
AM-Noon: Continuation of SportsFest.
PM: Part II of Mr.&Ms.Nursing '08 was held today. And one of my classmate won 1st runner-up. Congrats Tinay!
9/17
AM-Noon: Last day of SportsFest.
PM: This is the day we performed for the variety show competition. We performed a ballet/hip-hop theme since our movie theme was Step Up. Damn how I love the energy when I perform. It's like I give it all I've got on the dancefloor! I just wish studying would be that exciting (that's another story). Anyway, we won 2nd place (again). But that's okay though the judges said we should've won but we lack props compared to the other year level who had A LOT of props and had a pre-victory party. Man, they were so confident they'd win. And they actually won - as over-all champion.
Well, CON days was okay and competitive in a way. This was a good way for us nursing students to get to know each other by bonding through different activities. This is surely my last experience of participating in CON days.

One of the events of our CON Days was the Bring it CON! Cheerdance Competition 2007 held at our school (HAU) gym. We, 4th year nursing students represented as the Red Horse Seniors. Congrats though we didn't win.=)

Grand Summer Concert of Hale, Sugarfree, and Spongecola which was held at our school (HAU) here at Angeles City, Pampanga. I know the video's incomplete. I just loved the cover song that Hale sang here entitled "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers.

For the 17th time in franchise history, the Boston Celtics are NBA Champions.
"After the game, Paul Pierce was named Finals MVP. He had a modest outing in Game 6, but stood out plenty in the previous five games to deserve the honor. Pierce averaged 21.8 points and 6.3 assists per game as he, Garnett and Allen captured the first NBA titles of their long, accomplished, respective careers."
Being a fan of the Lakers since elemtary, I was disappointed by their gameplay. Who wouldn't right? Lakers have been winning ever since I became a fan of their team, ever since Kobe and Shaq were still the duo hardcore of Lakers. You know, if Lakers were to win this year's title, it would've been Kobe Bryant to be MVP. But again, their team lost by 39 points in Game 6. It's not about Kobe Bryant this time, it's about the whole team, not doing that good enough to prove that they can win this year's title against Boston Celtics (with Keven Garnett, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce on this team).
Anyway, that's just what I think. Now back to the topic, it was a final score of 131-92. A 39 point lead from the Celtics. Wow. Well, even though the Lakers didn't win this year's title, I'm still a Lakers fan. There's still next year. Go Lakers! And a Big Congratulations to Boston Celtics for a great game against the LA Lakers this season hehe =)
